Emphasis on Emotional-Social awareness & development: Mary
SIT Certified: Our curriculum is designed and accredited by the World Learning SIT Graduate Institute whose MA TESOL program has made them an internationally recognized leader in the ESL field. This means you are getting a certificate from a highly respected academic institution, which many potential employers will recognize. It also allows you access to their large job network & resources for continued training & professional development
Real teaching practice: Participants teach a minimum of five hours to a real class of ESL learners. This hands-on experience is very important to employers and makes the certificate more meaningful. Your earning the certificate means that your teaching has been evaluated and assessed and that you have not only been exposed to methodology but that you have proven you can use it effectively.
Small class size: We have a ratio of 6 participants to one trainer (with a maximum of 12 participants per course). Each participant receives considerable individual attention and feedback from the trainers at every stage of instruction.
Opportunities for continued professional development: If you choose to further your TESOL career through graduate studies, you will find that this course has prepared you well for the rigors of graduate schooling. You will be eligible to automatically receive a reduction of $2,000 towards a TESOL MA at SIT and furthermore, you can get a head start on your studies by being awarded 5 graduate credits for this one month of intensive study ( the cost of these 5 graduate credits is $500, paid to in advance of the course). MARY: can you add a few lines about the extra courses you offer to graduates of this course?
Global Job Network: Graduates of the course gain access to the vast, supportive network of SIT alumni and SIT's international job database. Furthermore our trainers have a vast range of teaching experiences & professional networks both in and outside of Costa Rica which they are happy to share with interested participants. One on one job counseling can also be arranged, upon request.
Rural Community Setting: Centro Espiral Mana's English School gives you the unique opportunity to teach English within the context of a small rural Cost Rican community. Our students range from 6-65 years old, they include ornamental plant farmers, teachers, day laborers, retirees, high school students, single moms, grandparents, and young people looking for employment in the tourism industry. Frequently our students suggest and organize outings for the teachers, share typical foods and invite participants into their homes
